Kathleen Farwell, Assistant Principal
Farwell_photo My years at Laurel Hill Primary School as a teacher and Assistant Principal have been wonderful ones in my life.  Arriving at work and receiving such friendly hellos and hugs confirms how very special our students are to teach.  A strong educational basis is the greatest gift a primary staff can offer because it builds the foundation for future educational experiences.  This coupled with effort and achievement will set our students on a pathway towards a fulfilling and successful life.

On a personal note, I have had the opportunity to work in various educational positions prior to arriving in Charleston during August 2006 from Richmond, Virginia.  I have had the privilege of being a classroom teacher, reading specialist, district instructional specialist in reading and writing, an assistant principal, a principal, and an adjunct professor at the University of Richmond.  I am also a proud mother of a son who is a high school teacher and am thrilled that he entered the field of education knowing the rewards that will follow with this choice.  As my father shared with me, life is valuable, so it is important to do something meaningful with it.  In primary language, as stated so well by Dr. Seuss, our students have places to go and great things to do, and the staff at Laurel Hill is proud to be a part of your child’s preparation for the future.
